Chidwa/Poha Savory Snack/
Poha/Chidwa Namkeen/
Beaten Riice Savory Snack/
Tea Time Snack
Hi Friends,
I am here with a savory Diwali recipe which i made so many times and concluded that If you like chidwa then making it simple is the best way to enjoy it. And i think adding peanuts in chidwa is the best combo we can have. You can play with other variations too. This is so easy to make but you need to be bit careful while dry frying/roasting chidwa. Otherwise its breeze to make this savory snack at home.
I make it at night as my brother and sister -in-law was suppose to come next day. I made two types of snacks. One was normal mixture with puffed rice including 2-3 kind of things and this one was simple. They like this one more as it was simple but bit spicy. Kids also liked it very much. Whole batch was finished on the spot.
You can prepare it for parties or get together. You can prepare it 1-2 days before and store for later use. My sister took it to her office for tea time snack.  You can keep it for 5-6 days in airtight container. But i can bet that it will not last that much longer.

Ingredients:-

Poha/Chidwa/Bbeaten Rice- 2 cups
Peanuts- 2 tbsp
Roasted Gram Daal-1 tbsp (optional, i added it at last)
Red Chilly Pdr- 1/2 tsp
Amchoor/Chaat masala-1 tsp
Turmeric- 1/4 tsp
Salt- as per your taste

Method:-
Take your ingredients

I added few spices later so use these spices

Dry roast peanuts in a pan

when they be raosted well and become crispy

remove them

 remove the skin

now dry roast chidwa/poha on slow flame

see it fluffed up

it will take 2-3 minutes to make them crisp

 remove it in a plate

add peanuts

heat 2-3 tsp oil in a wide kadai/pan

add all spices at once and mix quickly

add roasted poha+peanuts and mix quickly
so that spices coat the whole poha

keep on stirring and mixing for 1 minute

remove in a plate and let it cool down

READY TO SERVE

 HAVE SOME

Notes:-

  1. Dry roast poha/chidwa on low flame otherwise it will not be crispy and can get burn easily.
  2. You can add roasted gram daal or fried coconut pieces as per your liking but i wanted chidwa/poha taste dominating so didn't added much things in it.
  3. You can add mustered seeds and curry leaves while tempering.  i kept it simple.
  4. After preparing it let it cool down completely then store in an airtight container.

Poha aur Nariyal ke Ladoo/Sweet Dumpling with Coconut and Jeggary

Poha aur Nariyal ke Ladoo/
Sweet Dumpling with Coconut and Jeggary
Hi Friends,
Krishan Janamashtmi is very close  now. I never knew that what is prepares specially for this day. I searched for the recipes to try my hands on it. Then i came to know that poha is one of the ingredients used to make recipes on this special day. Lord Krishna loved Poha/flatten rice a lot. I was having some poha in hand so thought to make ladoos (round & sweet dumpling) out of it and which is my son's favorite. He watch Chota Bheem cartoon in which Bheem use to eat so many ladoos and fight like a hero. My son tried to follow him and demand for ladoos every now and then. So it become a great idea to make ladoos for my Krishna my son. He is very very naughty and mischievous boy and a picky eater also. I feel so satisfied if he eat something with interest. He liked these ladoos very much.
These ladoos are so quick, tasty and healthy. It will take hardly 10 minutes to make them. Its so easy to make that my kids helped me to make them. I am planning to make them in large quantity. Add any dry fruits or nuts in it. They are soft and melt in mouth kind of ladoos. It tastes great with or without coconut. Dry fruits will add great crunchiness in it. My family like it very much. Try it you will also love it.

Ingredients:-
Poha/Flatten rice- 1 cup
Jaggery- 1/2 cup (as desired)
Coconut-2 tbsp (chopped or grated)
Cardamom- 2-3

Method:-
Gather your ingredients

Soak poha in water for 10 seconds and drain water

Put soaked poha in grinder

now coconut+jaggery+cardemom
(i have also added few cashew nuts which are purely optional)

grind them to a course mix

Take a spoonful in your hands

make round ladoo with it

All rolled

You can roll them in grated coconut
(i did only one as my kids liked them plain)

Your offering is ready

My daughter is eager to offer them to you all

Notes:-

  1. You can add any of your favorite dry fruits in it. For smooth ladoos add them while grinding and for nice crunch crush them and add after grinding all other ingredients.
  2. Don't soak poha in water for more then 10 seconds, for batter results put poha in a strainer and rinse with water twice. It will prevent from the chances of letting them mushy. for thicker variety of poha rinse thrice or more if required.
  3. You can fresh grated coconut in it but i didn't had any in hand so used store bought desiccated coconut. You can make it without coconut also.

Notes:-

  1. You can Adjust any ingredients according to your liking like you can increase peanuts and skip poha OR you can add more chilly and skip chat masala etc.
  2. After adding spices be quick and switch off gas stove and add puffed rice.
  3. You can make it in big batch and store in air tight container and enjoy whenever you crave for it.
  4. You can also dry roast all spices and at end you need only one tsp oil to crackle mustered seeds and add spices. Oil will help spices to stick with puffed rice and peanuts.
