Samak ki kesari kheer/
Vrat ki KheerHi Friends,
I already have a samak ke chawal ki kheer but this one is more rich creamy and flavorful. I have used kesar which is bought by one of my kashmiri colleague. It is a very easy and quick recipe. It was ready within 20 minutes. Everyone relished it. My kids loved it and asked me to make it again. Hope you will also like it.
Samak/Sama/Vrat ke Chawal- 1/2cup
Sugar- 1 cup
Kesar/saffron- 10-15 threads
Dry fruits - any (i used almonds raisins coconut)
Ghee- 2 tsp (optional)
Take all your ingredients
take milk in a big kadai/pan
when milk is warm,
take out few tablespoons in a bowl
add saffron threads
stir them once and let them sit for few minutes
now add sama ke chawal in milk
see after few minutes saffron is infused in milk
after two boils
see its almost done
let them cook for few more minutes
now add sugar
instead of frying them in ghee,i soak them in water for some time
stir them to incorporate everything well
now add saffron milk
mix everything, cover and cook for 1 minute
kheer is ready to serve
its was yummmmmmm
it was over withing few minutes of cooling down
rich and creamy kheer with full of nutrition
enjoy hot or chilled
- Adjust the amount of sugar. For us it was just fine. You can increase or decrease the quantity as per your wish.
- You can also use half water and half milk for a lighter version.
- Using ghee is optional but it will enhance the taste of kheer.
- After cooling the kheer become more thick. You can enjoy it chilled and thick or add some more milk warm it and enjoy piping hot.
