Hi Friends,
I am so happy today i tried my first veggie roll which i wanted to pack in my kids tiffin since long. My son like rolls very much. He saw in kissan advertisement in which they roll chapati and make rolls with it. As i don't watch TV i was not aware about it. My son came one day and asked me the way to make rolls with roti. i did that and he ate two rolls. Earlier i use to give them rolled rotis/chapati with mix of sugar and ghee or with available dry sabzi. sometimes i smeared it with tomato sauce but stuffing always come out and end up with a mess up of everything. I wanted to try rolls like we get at eatery outlets. I was bit confused about its rolling, spilling of filling etc.
Finally i decided to give it a try and my kids smiling faces and a round shape with fingers made by my son saying "mammy its yummy" was the out come of my efforts. Can't tell you how happy and satisfied i was. Rolls were so delicious. i made one for myself also which i tasted few minutes back and realized that it was so yum. adding olives gave a very nice crunch and taste to it. Potato log was just mouthwatering paring well with added veggies. Now it would be a regular affair in my kitchen. To minimize my work in morning hours i made tortilla at night and also shaped potato logs and kept them in the airtight box in the fridge. Next morning i started frying my rolls and side by side chopped veggies. Now at the time of assembling my kids started disturbing me to grab one. So quickly i made rolls and packed. It took hardly 15 minutes to pack their boxes.
These are also very good option for kids parties. You can prepare things night before and you just need to assemble the things at party time. How easy na? or pack your kids lunch box or enjoy it at morning breakfast or evening snacks. Any time they will be great to share (may be not to share hehehe).

Notes:-
  1. You can use any kind of sauce/ mayonnaise in the roll as per your liking.
  2. Add any of your kids favorite veggies in it. options are endless.
  3. You can also sprinkle some chat masala but my kids refused to have that.
  4. You can shallow fry/bake/deep fry the logs, as per your choice.
  5. I made tortilla and potato logs till rolling them in logs then i kept hem in airtight container and in the morning i fried them. Took hardly 15 minutes to pack them in tiffin.

  1. Wow the log as a filling is just brilliant! I havn't seen such a chapati roll before and I am tempted to try it once. You have to know my husband likes all this kind of wraps and handy take aways. Usually we get chapati rolls here with different fillings and I remember those in pushkar with a lemon sauce and veggies, but your kids idea with tortilla is another killer. I would certainly follow your advice and add chaat masala. :D thanks for sharing!
