How to make Oats flour at Home

How to make Oats flour at Home
Hi Friends,
This recipe is keeper to lesson your cooking time in jiffy. I made this flour and believe me it disappeared within three days. Whenever hunger pangs happens i mix this flour within wheat flour/sooji etc and make scrumptious dosa with it. Soon i will try idli and kozukottai (savory dumpling) with it. Its very easy to prepare. It will take hardly 10 minutes to make it and you are done. You can make so many healthy dishes for your family.

Ingredients:-
Oats- 2 cups

Method:-
Take oats

Dry Roast them in a kadai/pan
keep stirring as they can get burned easily

Let them cool down completely

Now take roasted oats in a grinder

make a powder of it

sieve this

You will get fine flour

There will be coarse remained
Put remaining again in the grinder and grind again
follow the process till there is no leftover oats

Flour is ready to use

I made this dosa with it see recipe here

Notes:-
  1. If you want to use flour for dosa/cheela idli then you can use it without sieving. For idli/Bread etc it would be batter if you will use sieved flour.
  2. You can use sieved or without sieved flour as per your choice of texture of the dish you want.
  3. Keep stirring the oats while roasting as they can get burned easily.
  4. If still there are some leftover coarse oats then keep them saperate and use them to top your while baking breads to have nice crunch

Moong Sprouts and Oats Dosa/
Healthy Dosa/cheela
Healthy Recipes
Hi Friends,
There is one more addition in healthy dosa/cheela in my blog. I have a box full of oats and wanted to add them in my daily menu. So I searched so many recipes with oats but few recipes caught my attention in which oats were used in powder or flour form. Best thing was you can make flour in advance and store it. Any time you want to make something healthy and quick use this flour and your dishe is ready within minutes. I will soon post the recipe of oats flour.

This dosa/cheela is quick, healthy and flexible. You can add whatever floats in your boat i.e finally chopped onion, beans, carrot etc. or make it plain. Enjoy it any time of the day. I made this to pack in my kids lunch box. I served it for breakfast also and my son had it alone without any accompaniment. I was happy and satisfied. Adding sprouts makes them even more healthy and tasty. But you can gladly skip them. Try it guys you will love them.

Ingredients:-
Moong daal sprouts - half cup
Sooji/Rava- 1/2 cup
Oats Floor- 1/2 cup
Curry leaves- few
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
Coriander Seeds- 1/2 tsp
Water- as required

Method:-

Ingredients
soak sooji for 5-10 minutes

crush cumin and coriander seeds

put soaked sooji in grinder

grind for few seconds

now add moong sprouts and crushed coriander-cumin seeds

grind them all

take out in a bowl

now add oats flour in it

throw in curry patta salt

add water and make a thin batter

Heat a tawa and pour and spread batter

Ready to go in lunch box

Notes:-
  1. You can skip coriander or cumin seeds and add mustered seeds.
  2. You can adjust ratio of sooji, oats flour and moong sprouts as per your taste.
  3. You can finally chopped onion, coriander leaves etc for more flavorful dosa/cheela.
  4. You can temper the batter by heating one tsp oil and crackling mustered seeds and curry leaves but i wanted to use least oil so skipped this step and added crushed cumin and coriander seeds instead.

Oats and Puffed Rice Bars with peanut-butter and Honey Murmura and Oats Bar

Oats & Puffed Rice Bars with peanut-butter and Honey/
Murmura and Oats Bar
Hi Friends,
One more healthy bar (skip oil) in the list. Few days back i bought a huge box of oats to add in my food. But very much not willing to make porridge and making idlis or  was not an easy affair for me as my grinder is not working. So it kept on laying for one week. Secondly yesterday my son called me up while i was in office and said-Mom i am hungry. You made nothing for us. I gave him endless list of things laying in the pantry but he said no i don't want to have this and that. I become so restless at office and decide to make something to munch upon if kids feel hungry. I started searching for easy and healthy recipes as i get very less time after reaching home.
First thing which caught my attention was murmura and oats bar at Aarthis' space. As both things were laying in the pantry i decide to make them at night. After finishing dinner i made these bars. It hardly took 5-7 minutes to make these bars but required resting time was almost 2 hours in fridge. So i decided to cut them in the morning. I kept it whole night in the fridge. In the morning after preparing kids for school i took it out and started cutting the piece,as soon as i took out one piece my son grabbed it from my hands and started munching. I told them that this is for both of you only have patience, but who was listening all that. They asked me to pack few pieces in there lunch box and put rest of them in fridge then i said what about me? My son said OK YOU CAN HAVE ONE :). Thanks kids for letting me try one :). I think it can also be made without oil. Will try next time. Till then try it guys.

Ingredients:-
Oats- 1cup
Puffed Rice/Murmura- 1 cup
Peanut Butter- 1 tbsp
Honey - 1/4 cups
Oil -1/4 cups

switch off the gas stove
and add roasted oats and puffed rice/murmura

Notes:-
  1. You can add any dried fruits, dry fruits, seeds in it as per your choice.
  2. You can choose sugar instead of honey if you are not health conscious and don't mind sugar in your food.
  3. After making it, baking for 5 minutes will make it more crispier.
  4. You can easily skip peanut butter and make it with just oil and honey. My kids love peanut butter so that i added it.
  5. Keep them in fridge for crunchiness.
  6. I think we can also make it without oil also. Please let me know the results if anybody tried it.
