Lacha Parantha/ Indian Layered Flat Bread

Lacha Parantha/
Indian Layered Flat Bread
Hi Friends,
I am grown up eating these paranthas of my mom's hands. I tried several times to make it my mom's way but i never succeeded. She makes it very easy and quick way but after so many trials i left trying it. Then i went to our blogging world to search for easy lacha parantha recipe. I tried quite a few methods and found this one so easy to follow. It takes very less time. If you are a beginner then be bit careful while rolling the parantha as we are not supposed to put lots of pressure, we are suppose to roll it very gently, but once you get the idea of pressure you can make it really fast. You can add slat in the dough if you want it salty. I always make it plain and have it with milk :P . My kids enjoy this by saperating layers and making spirals with them. You can have it with any kind of dry or gravy based side dish. Even you can have it with any of the Chatni/sauce etc. You can have it any way you like.

Ingredients:-
Wheat Flour Dough- as needed see method here
Oil/ghee/Olive oil - as needed
Salt- optional

Method:-
You only need dough and oil

 Some flour for dusting

Now pinch a big size of dough

Flatten it a bit and dust with flour

Roll it as thin as possible

Drizzle some oil

spread it
(if you want to add salt sprinkle it on oil)

Now start making pleats as we do for sari or to make a fan

from another angle

or you can make it from top

All done

press them a bit with gentle hands

now turn FROM ONE SIDE

and apply oil

now start rolling it from one side
in above pic we have applied oil, that side must be inside

all rolled beautifully

apply some oil on top

now start rolling carefully

rolled

Heat a tawa

place your rolled parantha

apply oil

turn and apply oil that side too

cook from both sides

almost done

READY TO SERVE

Notes:-

  1. You can make it salty also. You can add salt in dough itself you sprinkle salt while spreading oil/ghee on the prantha. Choice is yours. I always make it plain as we serve it with side dish which contains salt.
  2. You can use ghee/Vegetable oil/olive oil as per your choice.
  3. While rolling parantha put very light pressure otherwise the layers will not appear.
Hope you will like it

Quick Plain Samber/ Instant Plain Sambar/ Sambar in Hurry

Quick Plain Sambar/
Instant Plain Sambar/
Sambar in Hurry
Hi Friends,
Sambar a staple side dish of South India. I have grown up ordering my all time favourite Masala Dosa with sambar and coconut chatni. As that time i was not much aware about other food and even didn't had any taste for another food like Chinese etc. So when i started preparing this delicacy myself. I found that it has so many varieties and tastes. You can add or omit whatever you like will not miss the real taste. You can make it authentic & laborious way or very simple and easy way. If i am having time then i make it authentic way but sometimes (out of laziness) or in hurry i make it this simple say. There is not much difference but still you can differentiate between both varieties. I made it few day back and served it with some steamed rice and my kids enjoyed it a lot. Its very quick and easy recipe. You can make it within 30 minutes even if you are out of your favorite veggie stock. Hope You will try it and like it as i did.

Ingredients:-
Arhar Daal- 1 cup
Onion- 1 medium chopped roughly
Tomato-1 medium chopped roughly
Ginger - 1 tsp chopped
Garlic- 1 tsp chopped
Sambar Powder- 1 tbsp
Red Chilly Whole- 4-5
Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
Coriander Seeds- 1/2 tsp
Red chilly pdr- 1/2 tsp
Hing/esfotide- one pinch
Water- 4 cups
Salt- as per your choice

Method:-
Take all your ingredients

Add one tbsp oil in a cooker

Throw in red whole chilly and asfotide

all spluttered

then cumin and mustered seeds

ginger garlic

add chopped onion and tomato

Mix well and cook for few seconds

Add washed daal

salt and red chilly pdr

sambar powder

mix and cook for one minute

see oil oozing out

now add 3 cups water and cook up to three whistles on medium flame

all done

cook for another few minutes if you want it thicker

I like this consistency

SERVE WITH ROTI OR RICE
Notes:-
  1. You can use other veggies also like carrot, pumpkin, peas, bottle guard etc, saute them with onion and tomato. I wanted to make it plain so skipped veggies.
  2. You can adjust the consistency of sambhar, you can use less water to make it more thick, or use 1 cup less water to make it thick.
  3. You can skip ginger garlic and onion if you don't use them.
  4. Use of spices is purely your choice. You can increase or decrease the quantity as per your choice.
Hope you will like it
